【摘要】:Theproceduresoutlinedherearegroundedinthegenerallyacceptedbodyofknowledgeandexperienceinthefieldofforensicdocumentexamination.Byfollowingtheseprocedures,aforensicdocumentexaminercanreliablyreachanopinionconcerningwhethertwoormoreimpressionswerecreatedbythesamecheckwriter,whetheraparticularcheckwritercreatedthespecificimpression,orthedeterminationofthemakeandmodelofcheckwriterthatmadeanimpression.1.1Thisguideprovidesproceduresforexaminationsthatshouldbeusedbyforensicdocumentexaminers(E444)forexaminationsandcomparisonsinvolvingmechanicalcheckwritersandtheirimpressions(exclusiveofrubberstampcheckwriterimpressionsorcomputergeneratedcheckwriterimpressions).1.2Theseproceduresareapplicablewhethertheexamination(s)andcomparison(s)areofquestionedandknownitemsorofexclusivelyquestioneditems.1.3Theseproceduresincludeevaluationofthesufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.4Theparticularmethodsemployedinagivencasewilldependuponthenatureandsufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.5Thisguidemaynotcoverallaspectsofparticularlyunusualoruncommonexaminations.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
