【摘要】:Thecarbonresiduevalueofburnerfuelservesasaroughapproximationofthetendencyofthefueltoformdepositsinvaporizingpot-typeandsleeve-typeburners.Similarly,providedalkylnitratesareabsent(orifpresent,providedthetestisperformedonthebasefuelwithoutadditive)thecarbonresidueofdieselfuelcorrelatesapproximatelywithcombustionchamberdeposits.Thecarbonresiduevalueofmotoroil,whileatonetimeregardedasindicativeoftheamountofcarbonaceousdepositsamotoroilwouldforminthecombustionchamberofanengine,isnowconsideredtobeofdoubtfulsignificanceduetothepresenceofadditivesinmanyoils.Forexample,anash-formingdetergentadditivecanincreasethecarbonresiduevalueofanoilyetwillgenerallyreduceitstendencytoformdeposits.Thecarbonresiduevalueofgasoilisusefulasaguideinthemanufactureofgasfromgasoil,whilecarbonresiduevaluesofcrudeoilresiduum,cylinderandbrightstocks,areusefulinthemanufactureoflubricants.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheamountofcarbonresidue(Note1)leftafterevaporationandpyrolysisofanoil,anditisintendedtoprovidesomeindicationofrelativecoke-formingpropensity.Thistestmethodisgenerallyapplicabletorelativelynonvolatilepetroleumproductswhichpartiallydecomposeondistillationatatmosphericpressure.Thistestmethodalsocoversthedeterminationofcarbonresidueon10%(V/V)distillationresidues(seeSection10).Petroleumproductscontainingash-formingconstituentsasdeterminedbyTestMethodD482,willhaveanerroneouslyhighcarbonresidue,dependingupontheamountofashformed(Notes2and3).Note18212;Thetermcarbonresidueisusedthroughoutthistestmethodtodesignatethecarbonaceousresidueformedduringevaporationandpyrolysisofapetroleumproduct.Theresidueisnotcomposedentirelyofcarbon,butisacokewhichcanbefurtherchangedbypyrolysis.Thetermcarbonresidueiscontinuedinthistestmethodonlyindeferencetoitswidecommonusage.Note28212;ValuesobtainedbythistestmethodarenotnumericallythesameasthoseobtainedbyTestMethodD189,orTestMethodD4530.Approximatecorrelationshavebeenderived(seeFig.X2.1)butneednotapplytoallmaterialswhichcanbetestedbecausethecarbonresiduetestisapplicabletoawidevarietyofpetroleumproducts.TheRamsbottomCarbonResiduetestmethodislimitedtothosesamplesthataremobilebelow90x00B0;C.Note38212;Indieselfuel,thepresenceofalkylnitratessuchasamylnitrate,hexylnitrate,oroctylnitrate,causesahighercarbonresiduevaluethanobservedinuntreatedfuel,whichcanleadtoerroneousconclusionsastothecoke-formingpropensityofthefuel.ThepresenceofalkylnitrateinthefuelcanbedetectedbyTestMethodD4046.Note48212;ThetestprocedureinSection10isbeingmodifiedtoallowtheuseofa100x2013;mLvolumeautomateddistillationapparatus.Noprecisiondataisavailablefortheprocedureatthistime,butaroundrobinisbeingplannedtodevelopprecisiondata.The250x2013;mL......
